Employment Standards
What’s New in 2012? 
Employment Standards will be returning to Winkler on Wednesday, January 18, 2012, with a presentation on the 4 changes to the Employment Standards Code effective January 1, 2012.
They include;
- Allowing Employment Standards to consider applications for Averaging Permits from all industries
- Allowing employees and employers to enter into individual flex-time agreements
- Allowing compensatory time off for General Holiday in climate-controlled agricultural operations
- Changes to termination rules, changing the exceptions for notice on termination from “Willful Misconduct” to “Just Cause”
*In Addition, presentation on the Foreign Worker Recruitment Act.

2014 Manitoba Winter Games
Winkler, Stanley and Morden are joining forces to bid for the 2014 Manitoba Winter Games and on January 12, 2012 Sport Manitoba will be here to visit our communities and evaluate our venues and bid. Please join us in welcoming Sport Manitoba that day. A few suggestions how you can show your support in the bid:
- If you have a sign where the message can be changed, we would encourage you to Welcome Sport Manitoba to town (eg We support the 2014 bid for the Manitoba Winter Game, or Welcome Sport Manitoba)
- You are invited to attend the 8:30am reception at the Access Event Centre, wear a sport jersey and be prepared to cheer them on (please arrive by 8:15am)
- Any other creative ideas to welcome them are encouraged
